Rubber Extrusion:
The process involves pushing the material through a die via a ram or screw that feeds into vulcanization/cooling chambers. Extruding rubber offers two main advantages over other methods by providing:
- Ability to create very complex cross-sections
- Lengths may be continuous (theoretically producing indefinitely long material) or semi-continuous (producing many pieces)
- The capacity to process multiple materials with differing durometers
